Archiving or deleting a document

How to manage documents that are no longer needed

As your life changes, some documents in your SafeKeep may become outdated, replaced, or no longer relevant. Instead of removing them completely, you can archive them. Archiving keeps the document safely stored but moves it out of your active view.

This guide explains how to archive or delete a document and what each option means.

When to archive a document

Archiving is useful when a document:

  • Has expired or is no longer valid
  • Has been replaced with a newer version
  • Is not currently needed, but you may want to keep it for reference

When a document is archived, it is not deleted. You can still access it later if needed, and you can restore it at any time.

How to archive a document

  1. Open the document you want to archive
  2. Click the menu icon (three dots or similar, depending on your device)
  3. Select Archive from the options

The document will move to your archived items. It will no longer appear in your active documents view, but it is still stored securely and available if you need to reference it in the future.

How to delete a document

If you are sure you no longer need a document, you can delete it instead. This will permanently remove the file from your Safe.

To delete a document:

  1. Open the document
  2. Click the menu icon
  3. Select Delete

Deleted documents are permanently removed from your account after 30 days. During that time, they are no longer visible, but they can still be recovered if needed. After 30 days, the document and its information are fully erased.

Choosing the right option

  • Use archive if you might want to view the document later
  • Use delete if you are certain you no longer need the document at all

Managing your documents is an important part of keeping your Safe clear, current, and useful. You are always in control of what stays and what goes.
