How SafeKeep’s AI helps extract key details from your documents

When you upload a document to SafeKeep, you have the option to use AI to help fill in important details automatically. This feature can save you time and reduce manual data entry, especially if you are uploading multiple documents.

This guide explains how AI-powered extraction works on both the web and mobile app, when it is available, and what to keep in mind when using it.

Who can use AI extraction

AI document extraction is available on the Essentials and Premium plans. It is not available on the Basic plan.

If you are eligible, you will be prompted to use AI during the upload process unless you’ve asked SafeKeep to remember your AI preerence..

How it works on the web platform

When uploading a document through the web:

1. You will first select the document type, folder, and upload your file
2. If you are on the Essentials or Premium plan, you will be asked if you want to use AI to extract details from your document
3. If you accept, the AI will scan your file and automatically fill in fields based on the document type selected
4. You can then review and edit any of the extracted information
5. You will have the option to save this preference for future uploads

You can change your AI extraction preference at any time from your Account settings under Document upload preferences.

How it works on the mobile app

During the upload flow on the mobile app:

1. After you select your document type and upload or take a photo of the file, you will see a prompt asking if you want to use AI to extract information
2. If you accept, the AI will extract details and present them for review
3. You can save this as your default setting for future uploads
4. You can update your AI preferences anytime in the Settings area of your account

What the AI can and cannot do

SafeKeep’s AI extraction tool is designed to pull out key information from documents based on the document type you selected. The fields it can fill are set by the SafeKeep team. This means:

• It will only extract details that match the expected fields for that document type
• If you want to include other types of information, you will need to manually add those as custom fields after the upload

The AI does its best to read and understand your documents, but it may not always be perfect. It is important to carefully review the extracted fields to make sure everything is correct and complete before saving the document.

File types and accuracy

AI extraction works with PDF, PNG, and JPEG files. It is not available for ZIP file uploads.

To help the AI work well:

• Make sure documents are clear, sharp, and not blurry or cropped
• Avoid dark shadows or low lighting when taking photos of physical documents
• Upload full pages where possible

AI extraction is here to support you, but your eyes are still the final check. Make sure to review your documents and make any edits needed before saving.
