How to add or remove a legacy contact

Steps to invite, manage, or remove legacy contacts

Legacy contacts are the people you trust to access your SafeKeep account after you pass away. You can manage your legacy contacts through the Connected users area on the web platform.

This feature is not currently available in the mobile app.

How to add a legacy contact

  1. Log in to your SafeKeep account on the web
  2. Go to the Connected users section
  3. In the Legacy contact field, enter the email address of the person you wish to add
  4. Click to send the invite

Your contact will receive an email invitation. You will see the status of the invite within the Connected users area, so you know if it has been accepted or declined.

If the person accepts and does not already have a SafeKeep account, they will be prompted to create one before being confirmed as your legacy contact.

How to remove a legacy contact

  1. In the Connected users area, find the contact you wish to remove
  2. Click the menu option next to their name and select the Remove
  3. Confirm your choice

Removing a legacy contact will immediately disconnect their access to your account once you’re gone. You can re-add them later if needed.

The number of legacy contacts you can add depends on your plan. To see which options are available on each plan, visit mysafekeep.com/pricing.
