How to use SafeKeep for a loved one (e.g. parent or partner)

Tips for managing someone else’s SafeKeep account

Helping a loved one get set up with SafeKeep is a great way to support them with their life admin. Whether it’s a parent, partner, or someone you care for, SafeKeep can help them stay organised, prepared, and in control of their important documents.

Help them create their own account

Each SafeKeep account is private and secure, and should always be owned by the person whose documents are being stored. To get started:

  1. Visit https://app.mysafeekeep.com/register
  2. Help them fill in their name, email address, and create a strong password
  3. Support them with verifying their email and phone number

Once set up, they can begin uploading their documents to their Safe.

Support with uploading and organising

You can help your loved one:

  • Upload documents and files
  • Choose folders and categories
  • Add expiry dates so they receive renewal reminders
  • Use SafeKeep’s AI tools if their plan includes it

This can be done together from their device, or you can guide them through it step by step.

Make sure they add you as a legacy contact

For long-term access and peace of mind, encourage your loved one to add you as a legacy contact. This means:

  • You will be able to access their account after they pass away
  • Their documents, memories, and messages will not be lost or locked away
  • You’ll be able to manage their affairs with confidence and clarity

They can add you in the Connected users area on the web platform.

What about shared or partner accounts?

SafeKeep is exploring features for partner or shared accounts in 2026. For now, each person should have their own individual account. Legacy contact access is the best way to stay connected and prepared across family members.

Supporting someone else with SafeKeep helps them feel more in control—and gives you both peace of mind knowing everything is safe, secure, and ready when needed.
