Step-by-step first login & MFA setup

Walkthrough of first login, two-factor authentication setup, and recovery code generation

When you first log in to SafeKeep, your account is protected by two-factor authentication (2FA) using your verified email address. This adds a layer of security to keep your documents and information safe from unauthorised access.

Here’s what to expect during your first login, how to set up additional protections, and what your recovery code means.

First login steps

  1. Go to https://app.mysafekeep.com/login
  2. Click Sign in
  3. Enter your email address and password
  4. You’ll be asked to verify your login using a one-time code sent to your registered email address
  5. Enter the code to complete login

This 2FA step ensures that only you can access your account, even if your password is compromised.

Your account recovery code

During onboarding, you’ll also be shown a unique recovery code. This is your emergency fallback if you ever lose access to your 2FA method.

  • Save this code somewhere safe and secure
  • You’ll need it to regain access if you lose access to your login email or change your 2FA settings
  • You can also view and regenerate your recovery code later from your Account settings > Security

SafeKeep cannot access this code for you. If it’s lost, and you lose access to your 2FA method, your account may be unrecoverable.

Setting up an authenticator app (optional)

After login, you can switch from email-based 2FA to using an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy.

To set it up:

  1. Go to Account settings on the web app
  2. Open Security settings
  3. Choose Set up authenticator app
  4. Scan the QR code using your app
  5. Enter the 6-digit code to confirm

Note: You can only have one 2FA method active at a time. Switching to an authenticator app will replace your email verification.

Setting up biometric login (mobile app only)

You can also enable biometric login (Face ID or fingerprint) on the mobile app for quick and secure access.

  1. Open the SafeKeep mobile app
  2. Log in using your email, password, and 2FA
  3. Follow the biometric setup prompt, or turn it on later in App settings
