Using legacy memories

Create and share meaningful photo and video albums for after you’re gone

Legacy memories is a feature available on the Premium plan that allows you to create meaningful photo and video albums to be shared with your loved ones after you pass away. Instead of leaving behind thousands of unfiltered images across cloud accounts, SafeKeep helps you highlight the moments that truly matter.

These curated albums live in your My Legacy area and are a way to pass on your most treasured memories in a thoughtful and personal way.

What is a legacy memory?

A legacy memory is a digital album you create, made up of selected photos and videos that hold special meaning. You can:

  • Upload photos and videos
  • Add captions to each item
  • Write a short story or description as a note to accompany the memory album

This allows you to share real, personal moments, not just files, helping your loved ones remember you in the way you choose.

How to create a legacy memory

  1. Go to the My Legacy area in your SafeKeep account (Premium users only)
  2. Select Create legacy memory
  3. Note: File size limits for legacy memories: Up to 500 MB per file for photos and videos
  4. Add captions and an optional memory story as a note to give context and meaning

You can do this from both the web platform and the mobile app.

How legacy memories are shared

Once your legacy contact initiates a verified account takeover, they will be able to adopt the documents, message and memories in to their account allowing them to share the legacy memories you’ve created.

If you prefer, you can also share a memory during your lifetime using SafeKeep’s secure share feature, giving you full control over how and when it is shared.

Legacy memories help you pass on not just information, but stories, love, and moments that shaped your life—preserved and shared exactly how you want them to be.
