What happens after account deletion
Understand the data retention policy and what you can expect post-deletion
When you request to permanently delete your SafeKeep account, your stored data is scheduled for permanent removal after a 30-day grace period. During this time, you still have the ability to cancel the deletion and regain full access to your information.
What happens after you request deletion
- Your subscription will end immediately once the deletion request is submitted
- You will no longer have access to:
- Any documents stored in My Safe
- Your My Legacy area, including messages and memories
- Any connected user or legacy contact information
- Your account enters a 30-day pending deletion period
During this 30-day period, your data remains securely stored in case you change your mind.
How to cancel deletion and restore your account
If you log back into your account at any point within the 30-day window, the deletion process is automatically cancelled. Your documents, settings, and data will become available again as they were prior to deletion.
If you do not log in during this time, the deletion process will continue.
What happens after 30 days
After 30 days, all of the following is permanently deleted from SafeKeep:
- All documents and files in your vault
- All legacy messages and memories
- All account preferences and settings
- Your entire subscription and billing history
This data cannot be recovered.
What SafeKeep retains after deletion
In accordance with our privacy policy, SafeKeep may retain a limited set of personal identifiers for legal, regulatory, or security compliance purposes. This does not include access to any documents or account content.
We do not store or keep your files, messages, or contact data beyond the 30-day retention window.
Before you delete your account
We strongly recommend that you:
- Download any files or data you wish to keep
- Notify any legacy contacts if you are listed on their account
- Ensure you’ve resolved any outstanding subscription issues
Account deletion is a permanent action unless cancelled during the 30-day period.
