How to generate new recovery codes
Steps to reset your existing SafeKeep recovery code
If you’ve lost access to your original recovery code or want to update it for security reasons, you can generate a new one directly from your SafeKeep account. When you do this, your old code becomes invalid, and only the new one will work for account recovery going forward.
How to generate a new code
To create a new recovery code:
- Log in to your SafeKeep account via the web platform
- Go to Account settings
- Select the Security section
- Find the Recovery code area
- Click Generate new code
You’ll be prompted to confirm your identity. Once verified, a new recovery code will appear. You’ll only see this code once, so make sure to copy and store it securely.
Important reminders
- Your old recovery code will no longer work
- Store your new code in a secure location that only you can access
- Do not share your recovery code with anyone
Generating a new code is quick and secure, and helps you stay in control of your account even if your authentication method changes.
